195On April 23-24, 2026, the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations, Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO), Moscow, will host the international young scholars conference «This Is How We Do It: 70 years of IMEMO legacy – A Young Scholars’ View».
Eligibility: Candidates and Doctors of Sciences (PhD or equivalent), as well as graduate and postgraduate students under the age of 39 years are invited to participate in the Conference.
The following topics will be discussed at the conference:
- - the intellectual legacy of IMEMO and the continuity of its research traditions;
- - long-term trends shaping the global economy;
- - the impact of technological change and the new scientific and technological revolution on international economic relations;
- - the evolving relationship between theoretical and empirical research in contemporary economics;
- - transformations of the global order and shifts in the international system;
- - emerging analytical and methodological approaches to the study of world politics;
- - the role of public perceptions, value systems, and identity in political and socio-economic processes;
- - the rise of non-Western countries and their influence on the global agenda;
- - contemporary challenges to international security and strategic stability;
- - the role of non-state actors in shaping political and socio-economic development agendas;
- - approaches and methods for forecasting global political and economic dynamics;
- - the possibilities and limits of long-term forecasting in an increasingly uncertain world;
- - the evolution of area studies and their contribution to the analysis of Western societies;
- - the impact of domestic socio-economic and political dynamics on foreign policy decision-making.

Submission Guidelines:
Deadline – April 10, 2026. Online form for submission
The conference committee will review submissions on a rolling basis following expert evaluations. Decisions regarding paper acceptance or rejection will be communicated no later than April 15, 2026.
The order of sessions is not fixed and will be determined when the conference program is finalized.
Submission Requirements:
- • Language: Russian or English
- • Length: 5,000–8,000 characters (including spaces)
- • Font: Times New Roman
- • Font Size: 14 pt
- • Line Spacing: 1.0
- • Alignment: Justified
- • Anonymity: The text must not contain the participant’s name or any identifying information
- • Title Formatting: The paper title should be centered and in bold
- • Title Restrictions: The title should not replicate the section name (see attached file)
- • References: A bibliography must be included, formatted according to GOST R 7.0.5-2008
- • Originality: The paper must have at least 80% originality
Submissions that do not meet these formal requirements may be rejected. All applications will undergo an expert review to assess their novelty, relevance, and validity of conclusions. The organizing committee reserves the right to assign papers to a different section if necessary.
