On June 22, 2021 at 3 PM (Moscow time) Center for International Security of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) is holding an international expert meeting "International Cooperation in Countering Global Threats in the ICT Space: Opportunities and Prospects". Format of the event: offline and online.

The event is aimed to analyze new global threats from the space of information and communication technologies (ICT), as well as the possibilities and prospects of international cooperation to counter these threats. These include the rapid transformation of the ICT environment into a space of interstate confrontation; the use of ICT to justify forceful approaches and to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states; the use of ICT for terrorist and extremist purposes; the impact of harmful ICT on the strategic stability level.

The dangerous of new ICT threats is emphasized by the political leaders of various states and the UN General Assembly. Ensuring the stable functioning and safe use of the ICT environment is possible only on the basis of international cooperation, the need for which has been repeatedly noted by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

How do ICTs affect international security and strategic stability? What ICT threats can be rated as the most dangerous and / or most probable? What is the Russian and international experience of preventing terrorist activities in the Internet? Which attribution opportunities currently exist? What are the prospects for international cooperation to counteract global strategic ICT threats? What trust-building actions can be developed in this area?

These and other issues will be discussed during the international expert meeting "International cooperation in countering global threats in the ICT space: opportunities and prospects" on June 22, 2021 at 3 PM (Moscow time).
