Alexander Lomanov gave the lecture “China in the post-crisis world: the status and the opportunities” to the members of the Council of Young Scientists.
In his speech Alexander Lomanov pointed out the fundamental changes, which had taken place in the development of China under the leadership of Xi Jinping since 2010s. The economic policy of Beijing is on the course of the recognition of the crucial role of the market relations in the allocation of the resources, of the movement away from the command planning towards indicative planning and of the involvement of business sector in resolving the state tasks.
The proclamation of the «New era», the main content of which was the building of national power, was the main phenomenon of the domestic policy of China in the second half of the 2010s. The CPC is increasingly promoting its ideology in society in the context of the rise of nationalist tendencies.
Speaking of the foreign policy of China, the lecturer admitted that since 2014 China had been developing "diplomacy of a large state with its own specifics". At the same time, the official Beijing does not yet have a well-developed concept of the future of the world and China's place in it. Facing the “trade war”, China is forced to adapt its strategy. By avoiding direct confrontation with Washington, Beijing seeks to maintain its accumulated influence and tightens its positions on the international issues.
