13On April 27, 2022, the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted a Round Table “Presidential Elections 2022 in France: Results and Future Prospects”, at which Reports were made by Researchers of the Center for European Studies, the Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Political Studies, the Department of Science and Innovation of IMEMO M.V. Klinova (Dr. of Sciences, Economics), A.A. Preobrazhenskaya (Ph.D., Politics), O.E. Trofimova (Ph.D. Economics), E.M. Tchernoutsan (Ph.D. Economics).


Leading Research Fellow, Center for European Studies, Doctor of Economics M.V. Klinova, on behalf of the team of authors, handed over to the Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RAS Corresponding Member Al.A. Gromyko, a copy of the collective monograph “Contemporary France: between worries and hopes”, issued by IMEMO in April 2022 before the French presidential election. In this Interdisciplinary Study, with the participation of leading Russian scholars, specialists in French economy, history, political science, the Results of the first five-year mandate of the French president Emmanuel Macron are summed up, the key problems that determine the future of the Fifth Republic are analyzed. The forecast made in the book about the politicians that will be qualified for the 2nd round of the Presidential election (E. Macron and the Representative of the right-wing party National Rally M. Le Pen), as well as the results of the French presidential election, was completely justified. M.V. Klinova emphasized the importance of Country Studies for a correct assessment of the prospects for building bilateral relations, including with France as the Leading country of the European Union.
