On September 21, 2022 at the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a Roundtable "Civilizational Transit and Postcoloniality (on the 70th anniversary of Alfred Sauvy's article "Three Worlds, One Planet")" was held.

Representatives of the Institute for African Studies, IMEMO, INION, IVI, MGIMO, MGU and other academic institutions discussed the place of colonialism in the historical process and its rethinking, postcolonialism as a practice and direction of scientific thought, as well as the concept of civilizational transit.

Maria Khorolskaya, Research Fellow at the Department for European Political Studies, Cand. of Science (Politics), took part in the event and made a presentation "The Possibility of Transferring Elements of Postcolonial Theory to Other Research Fields: The Example of East Germany", which raised the question of the limits of using postcolonial research methods: can they be used in relation to territories, ethnic groups, nations which were not part of the colonial system?
