54On February 27, 2025, a Roundtable “Central Asia and Russia: Strategic Cooperation in a Changing World” with the participation of experts from the Republic of Uzbekistan was held at IMEMO.
The experts exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between Russia and Central Asian countries within the framework of the “RF-CA” format, which is aimed at deepening cooperation between the countries of the region in economy, security, ecology and culture; considered bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan; and also discussed the degree of influence of the transformation of the world order on relations between Russia and Central Asian states.
The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan was headed by Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Foreign Policy Issues Abdulaziz Kamilov. The event was also attended by:
- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botir Asadov,
- Head of the Sector of the Secretariat of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherali Raimov,
- Director of the International Institute of Central Asia Javlon Vakhabov,
- Director of the Center for Foreign Policy Research and International Initiatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sanjar Valiev,
- Head of the Department of the International Institute of Central Asia Daniyar Kurbanov,
- Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation Makhamadjon Botiraliev,
- First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation Ramziddin Gulyamov.

The day before, on February 26, within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Moscow, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the International Institute of Central Asia and Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the purpose of which is to develop partnership and exchange of experience between the institutions of the two countries.
