Roundtable "Strategic Stability in South Asia: Regional Security and Global Implications"

On April 23, 2024, IMEMO staff took part in the international round table "Strategic Stability in South Asia: Regional Security and Global Implications" organized jointly by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Pakistani research center Strategic Vision Institute.

Senior Researcher, Center for International Security, IMEMO, Ph.D. Pyotr Topychkanov made a presentation on "The Role of Nuclear Weapons in Regional Problems in South Asia". His speech consisted of three parts: the changing role of nuclear weapons in the South Asian region; military-technological challenges to regional stability; and likely steps to reduce nuclear risks in the region.

The following participants participated in the round table as discussants: senior researcher at the Center for International Security, IMEMOS, Ph.D. Marianna Evtodieva – with a speech on the development of the technological race between India and Pakistan, and Gleb Makarevich, junior researcher at the Center of the Indo-Pacific Region of the IMEMO of the IMEMO.
