Roundtable "North European Studies: Status and Benchmarks"

On May 18, 2023 Nikita Belukhin Junior Research Fellow of the Department for European Political Studies at IMEMO, participated in the Roundtable "North European Studies: Status and Benchmarks" and presented a paper "Eternal Divorce: The Colonial Past in Relations between Danmark and Greenland”.

The paper focuses on the use of the colonial past as an instrument of pressure on the former metropolis and Greenland's place in the Norden space. It is concluded that in the near future we can expect further expansion of Greenland's status in the Danish Commonwealth.

Alexei Volkov, Lead Researcher of the Sector of European Countries’ Economy of the Center for European Studies, Cand. of Science (Economics), took part in the event as an invited expert.

The event was organized by the Council of Young Scholars and the Institute of Contemporary International Studies of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

IMEMO Director Feodor Voitolovsky was awarded the Jubilee Badge “20 years of the Collective Security Treaty Organization” for active participation in scientific and analytical cooperation. The award was presented by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov at the Organization's headquarters in Moscow.
