On November 13-14, 2024, a Roundtable on the topic "Russia and Egypt in BRICS+: Key Challenges and Prospects" was held in Cairo (Egypt). It was organized by the Al-Hewar Center for Political and Media Studies jointly with the Primakov Center.
On November 13, Ibragim Ibragimov, Research Fellow of the Center for the Middle East Studies of IMEMO, presented a report "Cooperation between Russia and Egypt in the Framework of BRICS Integration Processes".
As part of the discussion, the participants discussed the current relations between Russia and Egypt, the prospects for scientific and technical cooperation, as well as the role of BRICS in the global economy. Particular attention was paid to the issue of reducing dependence on the dollar in international trade and the strategic directions of BRICS development.
Experts from both countries emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in the scientific and technical field and the importance of joint research projects. Such initiatives, it was noted, could serve as a basis for strengthening the strategic partnership between Moscow and Cairo both within the BRICS framework and in a broader international context.
