
On February 10, 2025, a Roundtable “Protests in Serbia: Prospects for Overcoming the Political Crisis” was held in the press center of the “Russia Today” news agency. The meeting was attended by IMEMO Research Fellows Polina Sokolova, Cand. of Science (Politics), and Tatiana Popadeva, Cand. of Science (Politics).
Milan Lazovich, an expert on the Balkans, Program Manager at the Russian International Affairs Council, and Yakov Smirnov, Junior Research Fellow of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, also took part in the discussion.
The experts discussed the influence of external and internal factors on the protests in the country, as well as the sanctions imposed by the United States on the oil and gas industry. The participants of the event analyzed the risks of the impact of protest activity on the dialogue between Russia and Serbia, considered the likelihood of an escalation of the situation in Kosovo.
