On April 13, 2026, Artem Ilyinsky, Junior Research Fellow of the Department for European Political Studies of IMEMO, took part in a Roundtable on the preliminary results of parliamentary elections in Hungary, which was held at the press center of “Russia Today” International Media Group.

Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary on April 12. The vote took place amid attempts by Kyiv and the European Union to prevent the party of incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán from remaining in power. After the vote count, the opposition “Tisza” party received 138 of 199 seats. The ruling “Fidesz” alliance – Christian Democratic People’s Party, led by the current Prime Minister, also entered parliament. What will change for Hungary regarding the EU and NATO? Will the new government approve funding for Ukraine and its accelerated accession to the European Union?
