The roundtable conference on the topic “The new quantum race. The state policy and the corporate efforts. The global experience” was held online at 11.00 on June 7, 2022.

In the year 2019 there was created and brought into service the first commercial quantum computer IBM Quantum System One. This marked the beginning of a new global race for leadership in the field of quantum technologies. Leading governments eager to encourage their companies to use this technology to create new services and products. It is expected that the integration of quantum computation in various fields, including finance, development of new materials, medicines, secure Internet, artificial intelligence, etc., will lead to a new scientific breakthrough, and provide significant economic and innovative growth to countries involved in research, development and implementation of quantum technologies.

Member of the Directorate of the IMEMO, Corresponding Member of the RAS Academician Natalia Ivanova was moderate the event.

The following reports were delivered during the event:

  • “The fields of the implementation and the issues of creation of the quantum computer. The current trends in the development of technology and in the assessment of the prospects for the implementation of the major global projects” by Advisor of the Dean of the Department of Physics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Kirill Kuchkin;
  • “The quantum technologies: the dynamics of the global investments” by Junior Research Fellow for the Department of Science and Innovation of the IMEMO Andrey Nikitin;
  • “Japan. The state and the corporate efforts in the field of the quantum technologies development” by Junior Research Fellow for the Department of Science and Innovation of the IMEMO Corinna Kostyukova;
  • “The key initiatives and participation of the industrial sector. The experience of the USA” by Head of the Department of Science and Innovation of the IMEMO Cand. of Science (Politics) Ivan Danilin;
  • “The key initiatives and participation of the industrial sector. The experience of Germany” by Senior Researcher for the Department of Science and Innovation of the IMEMO Cand. of Science (Economics) Ekaterina Romanova;
  • “The key initiatives and participation of the industrial sector. The experience of Russia” by Head of the Section of Science and Innovation of the Department of Science and Innovation of the IMEMO Cand. of Science (Economics) Zaur Mamedyarov.
