Roundtable "Multilateral Institutions in Political and Economic Processes of Greater Eurasia: View from Russia and Kazakhstan"

On March 19, 2024, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Foreign Policy Research Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an International Roundtable "Multilateral Institutions in the Political and Economic Processes of Greater Eurasia: View from Russia and Kazakhstan".

Stanislav Pritchin, Head of the Sector Central Asia of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History), delivered a report "Russian-Kazakh Relations within the EAEU at the Present Stage".

The participants discussed the following issues:

  • •  The role of the EAEU in the foreign policy strategy of Russia and Kazakhstan. Assessment of the results of the association's development in 2015-2023 and ways to improve its competitiveness. Cooperation of the EAEU with third countries
  • •  The problem of connecting the EAEU and China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative. Experience of Kazakhstan's participation in the "One Belt, One Road"
  • •  Prospects for the development of transport corridors as an integral element of regional integration processes
  • •  The role of Kazakhstan and Russia in ensuring security in Eurasia. Priorities of Kazakhstan within the framework of its chairmanship in SCO, CSTO and CICA.
