On October 8, 2024, a Roundtable on the topic “The Balkans: Current Geopolitical Situation” was held at the International Multimedia Press Center of the “Russia Today” International Information Agency in cooperation with the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC).

IMEMO was represented at the Roundtable by Tatiana Popadeva, Research Fellow of the Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Political Studies, Cand. of Science (Politics), who co-authored the RIAC report “Russia and the Western Balkans: Peculiarities of Economic Interaction,” which was presented at the event.

The discussion was attended by Mikhail Lobanov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Maria Maksakova, Head of the Department of International Economic Relations and Foreign Economic Affairs named after Nikolay Liventsev of MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Lead Researcher of the Center for Eastern European Studies of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Nikolay Pomiluyko, Senior Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Serbia.
