Roundtable "Roller Coaster Ride: Steep Turns of the Election Race in the USA"

On August 5, 2024, the press center of the “Russia Today” news agency hosted a Roundtable discussion "Roller Coaster Ride: Steep Turns of the Election Race in the USA" with the participation of:

  • • Victoria Zhuravleva, Deputy Director of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Politics);
  • • Alexandra Voitolovskaya, Research Fellow of the Center for North American Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Politics);
  • • Sergey Kislitsyn, Head of the Center for Strategic Planning Studies, Cand. of Science (Politics);
  • • Konstantin Bogdanov, Head of the Sector of Strategic Analysis and Forecasting of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Technology).

Three months are left before the US presidential election scheduled for November 5. In July, a number of events occurred in the US that had a significant impact on the election campaign: an assassination attempt on the presidential candidate from the Republican Party, former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler (Pennsylvania), and then the withdrawal of incumbent US President Joe Biden from the presidential race in favor of US Vice President Kamala Harris, who becomes the most likely candidate from the Democrats, although the final decision will be made by the party’s Electoral College in Chicago on August 19-22.
