International Conference for Young Researchers

On the April 22-23, 2021 the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO RAS), Moscow, hosted the international conference of young scientists "World after the Pandemic: Global Challenges and Development".

The conference was held in a mixed face-to-face and Zoom video format. The event was attended by 67 speakers and eight invited experts. The director of IMEMO RAS, corresponding Member of RAS, Feodor Voitolovsky addressed the speakers and guests of the conference with a welcoming speech. Also, the head of the Russian branch of the World Health Organization, Melita Vujnović, also took part in the opening and delivered a felicitous speech.

Among the participants were the representatives of leading Russian universities and scientific research institutes and foreign scientists from Belarus, Brazil, Greece, India, Italy, China, Kirgizia and Switzerland. 

The Conference included 9 sections, covering the issues of COVID-19 pandemic impact on the integration processes and ethical changes, international security challenges, including problems of the world ocean, green economy and sustainable development, complexity of global value chains. The researchers presented their assessments of countries' attempts to provide new incentives for economic growth, the role of scientific and technological development and innovation in the post-pandemic world, and cross-country comparisons of the anti-covid measures.

Finally, there presentation of the book by A.O. Maslennikov, PhD in Economics, "The World Oil Market: the Role of Benchmarks (Moscow: Magister, 2020) was held.

The application must be accompanied by detailed abstract of the report in either English or Russian, ranging from 2 to 8 thousand characters with spaces (1-2 Word pages in Times New Roman font, size 14, spacing 1.0).

The abstracts of the report should contain:

  • statement of the scientific problem to be solved in the research,
  • justification of its relevance,
  • scientific research methods used by the author,
  • the main results obtained,
  • the significance of the results obtained.

Participants are expected to meet their travel and hotel accommodation costs.

At the end of the conference a IMEMO‘s series «Global Development» will be published.
