On April 17-18, 2025, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Social Aspects of Regional Development in the Context of Great Challenges” is being held in St. Petersburg at the Institute for Regional Economic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

On April 18, Kseniia Subkhangulova, Research Fellow of the Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Political Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Economics), presented a report at the conference “Social Progress of Developed Countries: the Impact of Demographic Dynamics” within the framework of the Section “Social Development of Regions in the Context of Great Challenges”.

The report covered the main demographic trends, social challenges in developed countries, and presented a model of regression analysis of the relationship between social progress and demographic factors. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that demographic processes have a significant impact on social progress compared to economic ones, which is most likely due to economic instability in the countries under consideration.
