International Young Scholars Conference “Development Models: Loading in Progress”

On April 24-25, 2025, the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO), Moscow, will host the International young scholars conference «Development Models: Loading in Progress».

Eligibility: Candidates and Doctors of Sciences (PhD or equivalent), as well as graduate and postgraduate students under the age of 39 years are invited to participate in the Conference.

The following topics will be discussed at the conference:

  • Theoretical and methodological approaches to studying development
  • The widening gap between developed and developing nations
  • Economic slowdown and demographic decline in developed countries
  • Unequal resource distribution, challenges in human capital development, and weak institutions in underdeveloped and developing countries
  • Alternative models of development
  • Disparities in access to technology
  • The impact of technological advancements on economic growth and social structures
  • Conflicts and development
  • Priorities and institutions in political development
  • Global power competition and cooperation in shaping the international development agenda
  • The role of non-state actors in political and socio-economic development agenda-setting

Format of the event: hybrid (online + in-person participation).

Submission Guidelines:

Deadline – March 23, 2025.

The conference committee will review submissions on a rolling basis following expert evaluations. Decisions regarding paper acceptance or rejection will be communicated no later than April 1, 2025.

Submission Requirements:

  • Language: Russian or English
  • Length: 5,000–8,000 characters (including spaces)
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 14 pt
  • Line Spacing: 1.0
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Anonymity: The text must not contain the participant’s name or any identifying information
  • Title Formatting: The paper title should be centered and in bold
  • Title Restrictions: The title should not replicate the section name (see attached file)
  • References: A bibliography must be included, formatted according to GOST R 7.0.5-2008
  • Originality: The paper must have at least 80% originality

Submissions that do not meet these formal requirements may be rejected. All applications will undergo an expert review to assess their novelty, relevance, and validity of conclusions. The organizing committee reserves the right to assign papers to a different section if necessary.

Important Notes:
The host organization does not cover travel or accommodation expenses for conference participants.
