II International Conference "Modern Politics: Political Science and Education in a Changing World"

On May 13, 2026, II International Conference of Young Scientists "Modern Politics: Political Science and Education in a Changing World" was held at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, organized by the Faculty of Political Science at the State Academic University for the Humanities (GAUGN) in cooperation with the Council of Young Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of IMEMO, Student’ Scientific Societies of St. Petersburg State University and MGIMO University. Within the framework of the conference, Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of IMEMO oversaw the organization and conduct of the section "Contemporary International Relations: Fragmentation or Reassembly?".

Participating in the section were:

  • •    Sergey Rastoltsev, Junior Research Fellow of the Center for International Security, with a report: “New Equilibrium in the South Caucasus in the Context of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Settlement: Between Confrontation and Reassembly".
  • •    Artem Ilyinsky, Junior Research Fellow of the Department for European Political Studies, with a report: "All Roads Lead to the East: Concept of Turanism in the Foreign Policy Course of Hungary".
  • •    Maria Shpak, Junior Research Fellow of the Center for Development and Modernization Studies, with a report: "'Let's Be Afraid Together!': Role of Securitizing Narratives in Javier Milei's Public Discourse in 2023–2025".
  • •    Alexandra Khatkevich, Junior Research Fellow of the Center for Development and Modernization Studies, with a report: "Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization as a Format of Implementing Brazil's Science Diplomacy".
  • •    Ekaterina Shanchenko, Aspirant of the Center for International Security, with a report: "Ethno-Confessional Influence of Extra-Regional Actors on the Balkan Region. Possible Trends and Consequences (using Bosnia and Herzegovina as an Example)".

The section was moderated by Pavel Timofeev, Head of the Sector for Regional Issues and Conflicts of the Department for European Political Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Politics).
