Forum of BRICS Academies of Sciences in Rio de Janeiro

On June 24–25, 2025, Forum of BRICS Academies of Sciences was held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

The Russian Academy of Sciences was represented at the Forum by Academician Petr Chekmarev, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Ivan Danilin, Deputy Director of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Politics). In addition to Russia and Brazil, the Forum’s host country, the event was attended by representatives of China, India, South Africa, Egypt, and Malaysia as BRICS partner country.

The event was supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Rio de Janeiro City Hall, and Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).

During the event, an exchange of views on the possibilities and ways to intensify inter-academic dialogue and scientific and technological cooperation among the BRICS countries took place. In particular, Ivan Danilin proposed the formation of new BRICS scientific journals within the framework of the ideology of "open science", as well as deepening interactions in the socio-humanitarian sphere. 

At a meeting with the leadership of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Ivan Danilin presented to the President of BAS Dr. Helena Nader and other representatives of the Academy scientific publications of IMEMO.

On December 9, 2025, the State Academic University for the Humanities held an International Roundtable “Socio-Humanitarian Knowledge in Scientific and Educational Transfers of Countries of Eurasian Space". In the framework of the Roundtable section "Socio-Humanitarian Education and National-Cultural Values of Countries of Eurasian Space" Alexey Zenkov presented a report "Prospects and Limitations of Scientific and Educational Integration in the EAEU".
