Head of the Group of Informational Security Problems of the Center for International Security of the IMEMO Cand. of Science (Politics) Natalia Romashkina made a report “The Global Threats of Cyber Attacks on State Critical Infrastructure and of the Information and Psychological Influence in the Times of Crisis” at the regular Roundtable on Military Cyber Stability (RMCS)) “Strategic and Military Competition in the Context of the Globalization Interdependence”, held in the form of a video conference on the principle of “Chatham House” by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on April 26, 2022.

During the event the reporters discussed the evolving nature of economic and technological competition in the context of globalization interdependence; the cybersecurity issues and their impact on the landscape of the global ICT industry; the possible consequences of cyber attacks on state critical infrastructure and of the information and psychological influence in the light of a crisis, and also the economic war during the global shortage and the depletion of survival opportunities.

The roundtable conference provides an opportunity for speakers from Russia, China, the USA and Europe to discuss the issues of the military cyber security in the light of the modern military and political relations, caused by cyber  operations, electronic warfare and information campaigns. It is a platform, where the leaders of  the academic community, think tanks, various industries and governmental structures present their latest researches to the expert audience from the large states. The Roundtable on Military Cyber Stability aims at identifying and implementing the multilateral research program on the military cyber security issue. In the framework of the project there are being developed the interdisciplinary and cross-cultural analytical frames for understanding the cyber security in the military field. There are also being suggested the practical steps for the stability improvement and for the upgrade of the international security architecture in order to reduce the amount of the cyber risks for the global peace and security.
