On October 28, 2024, the “Asian Seminar” under the leadership of Academician Vasily Mikheev was held.

The topic of the Seminar: “American Factor in the Development of the Chinese economy” (on the Eve of the Presidential Election in the United States).

Speaker: Maxim Potapov, Chief Research Fellow of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies of IMEMO, Dr. of Science (Economics).

The his presentation he characterized Chinese-American trade and investment cooperation at the present stage and its importance for the Chinese economy. The speaker assessed the impact of American sanctions on the Chinese economy, as well as the level of China's current trade and economic, technological, monetary and financial dependence on the United States, and expressed his opinion on the prospects for the development of the Chinese economy in light of the upcoming US presidential election.

The event was held in a mixed format.
