There was held the “Asian Workshop” under the guidance of Academician Vasily Mikheev. The topic was “To the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea. The history and the outcomes”.

Head of Research of the IMEMO Academician Vasily Vasilyevich Mikheev and Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (retired) Oleg Vladimirovich Davydov made reports at the seminar.

The aim of the event is to tell the unwritten stories about how the process of establishing contacts with the South Korean leadership and of the establishing of diplomatic relations took place in conditions of heightened negative pressure from North Korea.

There were analyzed the real outcomes of the 30 years of cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea, and there was provided an overview of what did not work out during the interaction.
