"Asian Seminar" named after Academician Vasily Mikheev

The "Asian Seminar" named after Academician Vasily Mikheev will be held on March 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm in Hall 03-04.

The topic of the presentation: "Restoring the Political Dominance of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan: Domestic and Foreign Policy Priorities of the Government of Sanae Takaichi".

Speaker: Victor Kuzminkov, Lead Researcher of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History), PhD (Kobe University), Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Japan (2020–2024).

The seminar will focus on the changes in Japan's domestic political dynamics that led to the formation of the government headed by Sanae Takaichi. The key directions and priorities of her cabinet’s policy will be discussed, as well as the risks of politically costly decisions associated with a “hawk” course and the strengthening of a conservative agenda.
