1541The Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Socio-Political Studies held a workshop within the framework of an on-going seminar dedicated to the analysis of methodological problems of political, social and cultural transformations in the contemporary world.
The current series is dedicated to social and political change in Western democracies.The workshop focusedonSpanish politics,economy and society. Dr. Serghei Khenkin (MGIMO University) delivered a paper on the crisis of the Spanish polity. Dr. Irina Prokhorenko dedicated her paper to the Spain’s prospects in Europeand to the role of her territories in national development. Dr. Agnessa Avilova spokeon the manifestations of the economic crisis.The floor was then taken by other leading Spanish studies specialists - Dr.Alexandre Kozhanovsky (Institute of Etnhnology and Antropology, RAS), Dr. Petr Yakovlev and Dr. Eleonora Ermolieva (Institute of Latin America, RAS), Dr. Tatiana Koval (National Research University Higher School of Economics). A vivid discussion of the prospects of the «Estado de las autonomías», on Catalan and Basque separatism and on the current political and economic crisis followed.
