Aleksei Volkov made a report at the seminar of the MGIMO University

Head of the Section of European Countries’ Economy Aleksei Volkov took part in the methodological seminar “Social State in Europe: the models, the ways of development, the forecast” on March 29, 2021. The event was organized by the MGIMO University in the framework of the implementation of the project of the World-Class Research Centers “Center for Interdisciplinary Research of Human Potential.”

In the report called "The peculiarities and evolution of the Northern European socio-economic model" Aleksei Volkov focused on the specific features of the Swedish model at the current stage of development. There he gave definitions of the classical Swedish model, highlighted the principles of its functioning, and considered the problems of adapting to changing conditions. Particularly, the author touched upon the issue of the attitude of the people and political elites of the Nordic countries towards the unconditional basic income and towards other alternative forms of social security.
