On April 12, 2024, IMEMO hosted the 78th Session of the Seminar "The Caucasus in the Past and Present (Society and Politics, Economy and Culture)".

The Seminar was moderated by Vadim Mukhanov, Head of the Sector for the Caucasus of the Center for post-Soviet Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History).

The report "Russia's Military Presence in the Middle East and South Caucasus after 2022: Comparative Analysis" was delivered by Sergei Melkonian, Research Fellow of Applied Policy Research Institute (APRI, Armenia), Cand. of Science (History).

The presentation was followed by a lively discussion, in which representatives of IMEMO, Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences took part.
