IMEMO RAN held the eighth conference in the framework of the joint project Russia and the Deep Nuclear Disarmament implemented in cooperation with the Nuclear Threat Initiative, Inc. The conference was titled «Interconnection between nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation: reality or myth?» IMEMO RAN also presented a brochure with the same title.

Discussion Forum «European Dialogues» (Director of Research programs Arbatova Nadezhda) has held its fifth seminar «Russia 2012: Scenarios of Political Evolution».

 Forum «Oil and Gas dialogue» of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations RAS and the Embassy of Norway organized a joint international seminar on «Conditions of Use of Subsurface Resources on the Continental Shelf: Norway and Russia.» Natalia I. Ivanova, First Deputy Director of IMEMO RAN, Corresponding Member of RAS, Doctor of Economics, chairs the seminar.

IMEMO RAS hosted another annual conference of young scientists, conducted by the Council of young scientists and graduate students from IMEMO RAN with the support of IMEMO RAN Presidium.

 «From global to local: regional politics on different territorial levels (theory and practice)». Deputy head of department of social-economical geography of Institute of Geography RAN, Dr. of Science (Geography) S. Artobolevsky.

IMEMO RAS, the British Embassy and German Embassy in Moscow organized an International conference on «The Economics of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency: Experience and Opportunities for Business and Politicians». The conference took place at IMEMO RAN. Conference was chaired by Natalia I. Ivanova, Deputy Director of IMEMO RAN, Corresponding Member of RAS, and Doctor of Economics.

Round table «Iraqi Kurdistan today – whether the model of its self-determination is applicable in post-Soviet space» was held at the Center for International Security. The meeting was opened by Alexei G. Arbatov, Head of the Center, RAS Corresponding Member.

«EU Third Energy Package: Consequences for Russia» seminar takes place at IMEMO RAS as part of the Forum «Oil and Gas Dialogue».

Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Socio-Political Studies IMEMO RAN and Perm State University hold a round table «Methodology for the analysis of socio-political changes and alternatives to the modern development of «alternative capitalism» or the alternative to capitalism?»

Meeting with Mr. Naoki Tanaka (Tokyo), the President of the Research Center for International Public Policy Problems, a famous explorer of economic and political problems of modern Japan.

Non-governmental experts from the EU, Moldova, Russia, Transnistria, Ukraine, and the U.S. met at the Frankenwarte Academy in Wurzburg, Germany for the first session of the Transnistria Conflict Resolution Task Force (TCRTF), supported by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the Institute for World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the European Union and UN Development Program.

Center for Comparative Socio-Economic and Socio-Political Studies hosts a regular meeting of the scientific and theoretical seminar on methodology for analysis of political, social and cultural development of the modern world.

«The volatility in world oil prices - a threat to the budget process». Seminar takes place at IMEMO RAN as part of the Forum «Oil and Gas dialogue».

Presentation of an innovative review on Russian Federation takes place at IMEMO RAS. This review was created following the methods of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

 Sixth international conference (the third - in 2011) takes place at IMEMO RAS as part of the project «Russia and the deep nuclear disarmament», implemented jointly with the Fund«Nuclear Threat Initiative, Inc. – NTI» with the participation of Sam Nunn, Senator, Head of the Fund.

IMEMO RAN held the fifth conference titled «Prospects for the Transformation of Nuclear Deterrence» under the joint NTI-IMEMO project «Russia and Deep Nuclear Disarmament». The participants in the discussion raised a wide range of problems related to strengthening strategic stability and security.
