Abstract. The class of managing bureaucracy as well as the class of intellectuals (broadly speaking, intelligentsia) seems to be partly cognate classes in modern and post-modern societies. However, in fact, as well as theoretically, these classes are widely different. The former provides all the institutional transactions in the fields of power and property, while the latter is connected with the processes of reproduction, development and renovation of knowledge. As for the present-day situation, it is peculiar because of not only social or political, but rather cognitive antagonism between the two classes. This complex of observations partly changes all the retrospective of social as well as human sciences, including historiography and political studies. Unique experience of the epoch of information contests the dichotomy “Power–Property”, so habitual for Russian textbooks, imposing the triad “Power–Property–Thought” instead of it.

Keywords: bureaucracy, intelligentsia, class, antagonism, administration, cognition, history, power, property, thought, correlation
