Abstract. The crisis of European integration led to a sharp contradiction of regionalization and consolidation trends in the EU. In these circumstances, there is the deepening of German-Polish partnership in the international arena. Cooperation of two countries is especially effective on the post-Soviet space. For Poland cooperation with Germany gives a chance to improve its status in international policy, because Poland gets involved in discussion of issues that are a prerogative of “the great powers”. The Polish-German tandem demonstrates that changing in contemporary Europe increases the importance of bilateral relationship. These transformations can be a prelude to disintegration, but can also start the formation of new hierarchical relationships in the EU.
