Abstract. The article presents the review of Pacific studies at IMEMO since the “stagnation period” until today. It covers the IMEMO experts' participation in research and public activity referring to development of the USSR/Russia's relations with the Asia-Pacific Region, improvement of bilateral relations with China, establishment of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Korea. The research experience must be considered in solving of new problems referring to the Asia-Pacific area.
