The article provides a retrospective analysis of the notion of strategic stability and its components at present time. The author looks upon the present and perspective factors, capable of undermining a strategic, regional and trans-regional stability. Special focus is on the role of independent inquiry in the correction of the strategic stability notion and in the formation of the up-dated list of destabilizing factors.
