Hanoi: Course to «Socialism with Vietnamese Face»

Abstract. The author gives a broad picture of the current situation in Vietnam. The country implements a new phase of reforms started by the XIth Congress of the ruling Communist Party in January 2011. The great achievements of 25 years of Vietnamese policy of openness and renovation and the main challenges the country faces now are analyzed. The specific ways of building the “socialism with a Vietnamese face” are distinguished.
