Ukrainian Crisis: Between Policy of Identity and Geopolitics
// Russia and New States of Eurasia. 2017. No 3. P. 9-28

Abstract

The article examines prerequisites of the 2014-2017 Ukrainian crisis and prospects of its resolution. In authors’ opinion the principal cause of dramatic events in Ukraine was created by the policy of building Ukrainian identity carried out after 1991 by the Ukrainian authorities under conditions of rivalry between the West and Russia for the control over Ukraine. Considerable attention is paid to geopolitical aspects of the Ukrainian crisis and contradictions between Russia and Western countries tied to it.
