Baltic States: The Cost of Political and Economic Transformation

Abstract. In the course of 25  years of their independence the Baltic states were subjected to a diverse treatment aimed mainly at transforming them in conformity with the NATO and EC standards. These changes however failed to improve the well-being of the Baltic states population. At present these states continue to lose their sovereignty and increasingly become hostages of the North Atlantic strategy.
