Latest trends in organization of defence research in Europe

Abstract

The article focuses on recent developments in the formation of EU defence re-search (in 2016 and 2017). It explores the European Defence Action Plan, de-veloped by the European Commission. It describes in detail the programmes offered by the European Commission, supported by the European Council and the European Parliament in the framework of a European Defence Fund. The article also analyzes the development of a future European Defence Research Programme within the next 2021–2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. In the context of the latest trends regarding the creation of a European Defence Union, the article analyses the attempts to arrange financing from the EU budget to the development of R&T that should contribute to creation of a fu-ture European army.
