The main focus of the new issue of IMEMO’s journal “Pathways to Peace and Security” is on several key challenges to global security – such as the need to balance state sovereignty and “Responsibility to Protect”, to codify the international right to peace and to improve the efficiency of the UN Security Council in dealing with increasingly diversified and threats to global stability. The more traditional aspects of military security are represented by analyses of the US and the UK military policies and the review of international regulation of arms exports. Special attention is paid to non-traditional security challenges (terrorism, money laundering) and new security actors on the post-Soviet space, ranging from financial intelligence services to neopacifist organizations.
