International conference of young scientists



The Council of Young Scientists of IMEMO is pleased to announce that the International conference of young scientists « The Changing West and its Role in Global Regulation» will be held on April 11-12, 2019 in Moscow, Russia at Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO). The conference is organized jointly by IMEMO, Institute of Europe and Institute for US and Canadian Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences.

We invite researchers holding Ph.D, Cand.Sc. and Dr.Sc. degrees or post-graduate students exploring political and economic issues in the countries of the West and the Western role in contemporary world economy and international relations to participate in the conference. Working languages are Russian and English (for non-Russian citizens), the participation is intramural.

The format of the conference is a moderated discussion based on the abstracts of reports, prepared by the participants. The discussion will cover topical issues concerning following key challenges and possibilities for the development of the global economic and political system in the XXI century:

  • Evolution of the West as a collective political and economic player;
  • Current political and economic relations between the Western states;
  • Western influence on the non-Western world;
  • Transformation of the current world due to the Western influence.

Participants are invited to submit applications before February, 25, 2019. Your applications should include:

· Full name
· Nationality
· Institution title and address
· Position, degree, academic rank (if present)
· Telephone No and e-mail
· Title of presentation
· List of 3 newest published works (if present).

The application should include abstract in Russian or English of 2000–8000 characters with spaces (1–2 Word pages, font Times New Roman, size 14, space 1,0) following the author's full name and the Title of presentation.

The abstract should include:

  • the scientific problem to be solved
  • relevance of the scientific problem
  • research methods used by the author
  • main results obtained in the study
  • evaluation of the results obtained by the author

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to select the presentations and reports to be included to the collection of articles to be published following the conference. The Organizing Committee will consider the applications and report the results by March 11, 2019.
