Abstract. The article attempts to identify and analyze some of the most significant aspects of the US political strategy in the South Caucasus in connection with its geopolitical position in relation to the so-called Greater Middle East and a number of states that play a key role in the wide Caucasian-Caspian-Middle Eastern region. The main attention is concentrated on Washington’s policy both in the South Caucasus as a whole and in relation to each of the three local states taken separately, taking into account their geopolitical differences. Significant attention is given to the prospects of  entry of  the South Caucasian states, primarily Georgia, into NATO structures.

Keywords: South Caucasus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, USA, Russia, NATO
