Abstract. The steady expansion of NATO to the East and the actual incorporation of Ukraine into the alliance, as well as the urgent need to ensure the security of the population of Donbass forced Russia to conduct a special military operation (SVO). In response to this demarche of Moscow, the United States unleashed a full-scale proxy war against Russia in the hope of achieving a strategic defeat of our country. Guided solely by its own geopolitical interests, Washington is constantly increasing the level of escalation of the conflict, balancing on the brink of a major war with a high risk of its developing into a nuclear one.

Keywords: SVO, USA, NATO, Crimea, Donbass, escalation, Minsk agreements, conflict, security
