The 4th issue for 2022 of the journal “Russia and the New State of Eurasia” has been published. As before, the authors’ attention is focused on Ukraine. The researchers consider the role of the United States in the aggravation of the Ukrainian crisis, problems in relations between Ukraine and Hungary, Turkish–Ukrainian relations during the presidency of V.Zelensky. The attention of researchers was also attracted by other countries located in the European part of the post-Soviet space – Moldova and Belarus. The article published in the issue analyzes Chisinau’s turn to the West, undertaken under the leadership of the Moldovan President M.Sandu. The relations between Belarus and Russia in the context of new foreign policy realities that emerged after the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine also were the object of the study. Also the policy in the field of international development assistance implemented by the EU in the post-Soviet space is analyzed. Considerable attention is traditionally paid to Central Asia. The authors consider the US strategy in the Central Asian region, political changes in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan’s policy in the crypto-currency sphere. As before, the authors’ attention is focused on the states of the South Caucasus. In the issue transport infrastructure development projects in Transcaucasia and the social consequences of the coronavirus pandemic in the South Caucasus are examined. Researchers also turn to recent history. So, on the example of political processes in the Ukrainian SSR in the period of perestroika, the factors that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union are revealed. Considerable attention is paid to the problems of migration. The researchers investigate Central Asian migrants’ perceptions of the culture of Russia, where they came to work or study. The article on the establishment of two-tier national currency system in the EAEU countries is also of great interest. The author of the article, former deputy Finance Minister of Kyrgyzstan, proposes the introduction of an additional gold national currency backed by gold in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
