Abstract. Introduction of new statistical data to the scientific practice significantly expands and deepens our ideas about the object under study. This fully applies to cross-border migration, its goals, scope and dynamics. Russia as a host country remains attractive for migration from neighboring countries, and not only as a labor market. The paper presents an analysis of statistical data on the entry and migration registration of citizens from the countries of the former Soviet Union (2010–2019), dedicated to identifying the general and special national contingents of migrants, their motives, intensity and trajectories of entry into Russia.

Keywords: migration control; immigration regulation system; labor migration; destination and donor countries; entry goals; migration trajectories
