BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Leili Rustamova is a researcher at Peace and Conflict Studies Unit, National Research Institute of the World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), Moscow; Candidate of Political Sciences. She is a member of editorial team of the IMEMO journal on peace and conflict studies “Pathways to Peace and Security”.
Research themes: conflict resolution, new areas of diplomacy, socio-humanitarian aspects of world politics, peacekeeping and peace support, soft power, information security and terrorism, Russian foreign policy, German foreign policy.
She is the author of over 75 research publications in Russian and English, including a textbook “Soft Power and Public Diplomacy” (2021). Her articles were published in “Polis”, “World Economy and International Relations”, “Bulletin of Tomsk State University”, “Bulletin of MGIMO University” and other peer-reviewed journals.
In 2014-2018, she worked as an expert and leading expert at the Office of Scientific Policy of MGIMO University. Since 2021, she is an Associate Professor, Department of International Political Processes, Faculty of Management and Politics, MGIMO-University. She has participated in several IMEMO and Russian Foundation of Basic Research projects, and participated in and led several projects at MGIMO.
In 2013, she graduated with honors in World Politics and International Law from Faculty of International Relations, Nizhny Novgorod State University, M.A. in World Politics and International Law.
In 2013–2016, she studied at MGIMO-University Graduate School.
In 2017, she defended her PhD equivalent – Candidate of Sciences in Politics (Dissertation on “Soft Power policy of Modern Germany”), RUDN University, Moscow.
